The Sex Offender Registration Unit oversees registration of sex offenders and coordinates notification to the community of sexually violent predators released within designated neighborhood boundary limits. The Colorado Sex Offender Registry is a regional database of registered sex offenders from participating jurisdictions throughout Colorado. It includes Denver sex offenders, but represents only the individuals who are required by law to register and who are in compliance with the sex offender registration laws. Persons should not rely solely on the sex offender registry as a safeguard against perpetrators of sexual assault in their communities. The crime for which a person is convicted may not accurately reflect the level of risk. If you are registering in Denver for the first time, you must arrive by noon.

State and local laws push more registered sex offenders into low-income Colorado communities
Special to The Colorado Sun. The laws requiring the names of convicted sex offenders nationwide to be catalogued, and available to the public, bear the names of children sexually assaulted and murdered by predators who had committed sex offenses before. The goal was to prevent the same from happening to other children. The intent of the laws may be unassailable. But throughout the country, they have largely sequestered sex offenders in low-income neighborhoods.
This website does not list all convicted sex offenders in Colorado. The CBI does not post information concerning 1 sex offenders only convicted of misdemeanor sex offenses, or 2 juveniles adjudicated for sex crimes. Some Police Departments and Sheriff's Offices maintain websites containing information about sex offenders in their jurisdiction, consistent with Colorado Revised Statutes CRS Please select the Information tab for links to view specific Colorado Police and Sheriff sex offender websites.
